Story
The plot takes place in the early 1990s. A fifth-grade student named Bommai Nayaki (Sreemathi) lives with her father Velu (Yogi Babu), a tea master, and his wife Kayalvizhi (Subhadra). His mother is from a lower caste than his father, and because of this, his wealthy stepbrother Senthil shuns them (Arul Doss). Despite the fact that Senthil treats him in a servile manner, Velu still loves and respects him.
When the owner of the tea store becomes ill, Velu loses his job. The kind owner, however, promises to sell the shop to him if he can raise the required amount of one lakh rupees, which is beyond of his price range. Men from the upper caste abuse the child during a festival honouring the deity Bommai Nayagi, and her father witnesses it. The victim is imprisoned in a hospital that belongs to her abusers. The last portion of the script describes how the unknowledgeable and innocent father protects his daughter by both following and disobeying the law.
